Manuscript Critique and Evaluation

Are you wondering if your work is publishable?
Are you thinking of sending your manuscript to an agent or publisher?

Don't take a chance on rejection! Have it evaluated first. Our professional evaluation will give you a comprehensive overview of your work's strengths and weaknesses.

You wouldn’t enter a race before thoroughly assessing your strengths and weaknesses. So why do less with your manuscript?

Agents and publishers today are inundated with thousands of submissions. They are looking for gripping writing that is professionally presented, for books that are competitive in the marketplace, and for authors who are willing to promote their work aggressively.

Our evaluation will provide a careful reading of your entire first book and a thorough 10 to 15-page report to you about its strengths and weaknesses, using examples from your manuscript. This includes in depth analysis and feedback about the following:

  • The “hook,” especially the first three paragraphs and the first five pages
  • Transitions, such as chapter endings. Is the reader propelled forward?
  • Writing flow
  • Punctuation, spelling, grammar, and sentence structure
  • Formatting
  • Storyline/plot strength and vision
  • Subplots
  • Characterization
  • Dialogue
  • Point of view
  • Setting/mood
  • Symbolism
  • Foreshadowing
  • Pacing of scenes
  • Current market trends
  • …and more

The normal manuscript evaluation rate is $1.50 per double-spaced page with one-inch margins in a standard 12-point font (Minimum: $125).

SPECIAL: First Three Chapters Only

If you're not ready to send in your whole manuscript but are wondering how you're doing, consider sending your first three chapters for an evaluation. One client said that was the most useful thing he had ever done with his manuscript! He clearly saw his weaknesses and strengths before investing a lot more energy into it.
