Scott David Plumlee
Handcrafting Chain and Bead Jewelry
(Watson-Guptill, 2006)

Linda Nathan provided much of the editing for this book, as well as continual market and contract consultation. She wrote the winning query letter and proposal package that received a response from a senior editor within two weeks of mailing. She also handled the contract negotiations, which led to the author receiving a higher advance and an additional large photography budget.

The first in a series, Scott’s book is a unique guide to handcrafting original chain designs, based on the age-old Byzantine chain. Inside is a full background on chain making history, terminology, metallurgy, formulas, and tools. Clear illustrations of techniques, a detailed quality control section, and step-by-step assembly of each design in sequence of increasing complexity are all part of this well-crafted book. Although the Byzantine chain has been known for centuries, Scott was the first to discover its underlying mathematical formula and implement it to create the highest possible quality in many different sizes in over sixty original chain creations. TONIE HARRIS GATLIN
The Dark Side of Karate
AuthorHouse 2004

Tonie Harris Gatlin was a nationally acclaimed black belt karate champion, teacher, and trainer with her own school before her dynamic conversion to Christ in 1984. In nationwide tournaments, she earned 58 trophies in six years, and in 1979 she was rated by Karate Illustrated as the Top Female Karateka in the Pacific Northwest, a title she retained for seven years. After becoming a Christian, she taught karate until the Lord impressed her with its occultism and destructiveness. Today Tonie is a well-known Bible and aerobics teacher and an assistant pastor. Through Linda’s interviews and research, and Tonie’s materials, Linda Nathan wrote The Dark Side of Karate and walked it through the publishing process.
